What is split ejaculate?

A procedure used in sperm analysis, in which the total ejaculated specimen is partitioned or fractionated during the ejaculatory process and the various fractions are studied separately. The earliest ejaculated fluid contains the highest concentration of spermatozoa. Latter ejaculate contains relatively more seminal fluid. The split-ejaculate method has been offered as a reasonable solution to sperm selection because of its simplicity and potential benefit.
